The Yahara Watershed Journal is a gathering of watershed-related information and ideas, with primary focus on the Yahara watershed. Our goal is to promote the long-term health of watersheds by increasing public awareness and knowledge of significant local watershed issues (ecological, cultural, economic, political), publicizing results and implications of relevant research, connecting people and organizations with similar interests, and encouraging effective citizen involvement in local decision-making.
We are soliciting contributions from public policy-makers, researchers, formal and non-formal educators, students (at all levels, from pre-kindergarten through life-long learners), and other interested citizens. Contributions may be letters and commentaries; reports on research, education, local culture, and citizen action; artwork; and announcements.
letters to the editors; opinion pieces; reflections on research results; reviews of books, programs, or other resources
summaries of research studies and results; short research articles
on-going education projects and partnerships; availability of resources & equipment; ideas and materials for classroom use; results of classroom action research; field trip experiences
art and literature (black & white line art and photographs, poetry, short fiction) with themes that deal with local "place"; stories and articles of past and present life in the watershed
ideas for effective citizen involvement in public policy-making; descriptions of projects related to local and regional land use planning, water quality, and resource management; requests for help; collaboration with projects
