Who We Are WAPNAP Purpose Communications WAPNAP By-laws

The Wisconsin Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (WAPNAP) is the Wisconsin chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners (NAPNAP). Membership of WAPNAP includes Pediatric and Family Nurse Practitioners, Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialists, Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, School Nurses and other Pediatric Nurses from Wisconsin. WAPNAP members are encouraged, but not required, to also be members of NAPNAP. For information about NAPNAP and links to other national sites go to NAPNAP.

The Purpose of WAPNAP is to establish and promote the highest standards of pediatric nursing practice, education, and research, and to advocate for those who are consumers of pediatric health care. This includes the support and facilitation of state and local programs to improve the quality of infant, child and adolescent health care. The organization provides leadership in the following pediatric health care activities:

• Develop standards of pediatric nursing practice
• Support continuing education programs
• Promote pediatric nursing research
• Collaborate with families, and health care professionals to maximize the health potential of Wisconsin’s children within their community
• Serve as a clearing house for information and statistics
• Maintain liaisons with other professional organizations and consumer groups
• Advocate for legislative change to meet the needs of children in Wisconsin
• Stimulate interest in pediatric nursing
• Enhance the role of nurse practitioners as primary care providers of pediatric health care
• Disseminate information about current practices and concerns in pediatric health care
