WAPNAP Activities and Accomplishments

  • Prescriptive Authority--WAPNAP members were involve in the effort for prescriptive authority for Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurses.
  • Acceptance of NP's as Signatories on WIAA Sports Physical Cards--WAPNAP member Maureen Van Dinter worked with WNA and spoke at the WIAA annual meeting as part of the effort to allow NP's as signatories on WIAA Sports Physicals cards.
  • Sponsor of Nurses Day at the Capital--WAPNAP has been one of the co-sponsors of this event.
  • Provision of Continuing Education--WAPNAP has sponsored its own educational conferences and has been a co-sponsor of educational offerings with the WNA Advanced Practice Forum, the Wisconsin Chapter of the AAP, and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
  • Legislative Advocacy--WAPNAP monitors state and national legislative initiatives pertinent to child health and encourages member advocacy on these issues.
  • Liaison to Other Professional Organizations--Many WAPNAP members are involved as liaisons to other organizations. These are listed on the Who's Who page.
  • Collaborative Practice Agreement--This is a sample collaborative practice agreement developed by WAPNAP in conjunction with the WNA attorney, the Wisconsin Academy. of Family Physicians and their attorney, and reviewed by the State Medical Society. You may use this and adapt to your situation. The Wisconsin Board of Nursing has seen this and also accepted it. Copy of Sample Collaborative Agreement.
