Join us! The City of Madison is sponsoring
Neighborhoods 2001: Tools and Tours,
its third biennial neighborhoods conference on Saturday, September 15, 2001 at
the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. Neighborhood residents and people who care about
neighborhoods are invited to attend.
This year's conference
promises to be especially exciting!
For the first time at a local conference, participants will have an
opportunity to choose to attend one of six neighborhood tours. After morning workshops, participants
will board busses, have lunch in a Madison neighborhood, and receive a tour
describing neighborhood challenges and successes from residents.
The conference will also
include a mix of new workshops and old favorites, including sessions on how to
build constructive neighborhood relationships with developers, conflict
management and mediation workshops, and training on negotiation skills.
Early bird registration
deadline is August 31, and registration forms are now available. Contact the Department of Planning
& Development at 266-4635 to receive a registration brochure, or download
registration materials >from www.ci.madison.wi.us/neighborhoods/index.htm
.
This year we have a
special offer - the neighborhood association with the most registration forms
in by the early bird registration deadline of August 31 can win a $200 reward
from Madison Gas & Electric (MG&E)!
Thanks to a grant from
Dane County, we have a limited number of scholarships available. Scholarships are offered to ensure that
the conference fee does not stand as a barrier to people who would otherwise
attend. Neighborhoods and
individuals may request a scholarship application form from Lorri Wendorf at
Office of Community Services, Madison Municipal Building, 215 Martin Luther
King Jr. Blvd, Room 225, Madison, WI
53701; telephone 261-9121, fax 261-9626, e-mail
lwendorf@ci.madison.wi.us and return it by August 31.
