Brenda Konkel and Rex
Loehe, who opposed each other for the 2nd district aldermanic race on April 3,
have filed their final list of campaign contributors with the city clerk's
office. The complete results can be
seen at http://www.ci.madison.wi.us/clerk/clerk.html. Loehe spent $11,546 in his losing
battle for the seat vacated by Barbara Vedder. Konkel spent $7,969.
In the election Konkel received 1001 votes to Loehe's 802 votes.
The total for both
candidates was $19,515. By
contrast, in the 1999 2nd aldermanic district race, the incumbent and winner
Barbara Vedder spent $3221 and her challenger Robert Gibbons spent $5940 for a
total of $9161.
In the April election
Konkel limited the amount any individual could contribute to $100. Loehe received twenty-four
contributions over $100.
