Feel like one of those 727’s are go
ing to land on your rooftop lately? For good reason. The Dane County Airport has recently changed its regular flightpath - the good news is it’s only temporary. While the airport’s 27-year-old primary runway, which is north-south, is being resurfaced, a secondary northeast-southwest runway is being used. Construction on the primary runway will continue through the summer and into October. Airport operations explained that noise abatement techniques, such as having the planes takeoff to and land from the north, are not always possible, particularly lately with the strong winds we’ve been experiencing. Also, the airport policy of flights ending by 11:15 p.m. may not always be possible when other airports, such as O’Hare, are backed up. So, if you drift off to sleep this summer and dream that you’re flying to Hawaii....it may only be a really positive response to airport noise...
