Minutes of the Old Market Place Neighborhood Association
Members: Mark Schlei, Erik Minton, Keith Cohen, Matt Meier, James Roper, Sonia
Moskalik, and Bob Sommerfedt
Nonmembers: Joe Starkweather and Zack Bartel
Vice President Erik Minton called the meeting to order.
The minutes for the January and February meetings were accepted with no corrections.
Bob Sommerfeldt stated the first phase seems to be going ahead as the funding is pretty much in place. The rest of the project is more questionable and uncertain. Planning is going ahead as if it will be on schedule. He also brought the design for plantings in the medians and plant list.
Joe Starkweather and Zack Bartel brought a rough design for west side of the building. They presented an abstract landscape idea they had done with colored markers. They said the final project would be in finer detail. They asked for any ideas our members could come up with. They are hoping to raise about $1,000.00 and then be able to get matching art grant funds to pay for the project. A motion was passed to approve the project and give $20.00 to the cause. Anyone wishing to donate or with ideas to suggest can contact them at AEROSOLARTISTS@hotmail.com or apartment_zero@hotmail.com. At this time they are not excepting funds only pledges for amounts to be collected when the project is approved and going forward.
Matt Meier presented initial plans he is developing for a new structure at 633 East Gorham. It would be 3 floors in the front with 4 in the rear and hold 8 apartments. The lower apartments would be 1-bedroom units with the rest of them having 2 bedrooms. There would also be a living unit over the garage. By using spaces on property also owned by Matt next door he will be providing a total of 15 spaces for a total of 18 units. Parking would be provided separate from the rent of a unit. Most of the lot would be built upon, leaving little or no green space. He was not looking for any kind of approval from us at this time. He has not started the process of going through city committees. He is hoping to get approval sometime this year so he can do construction next year.
The meeting was adjourned.
