Introductions
Announcements: A brief discussion and update was given on the houses in James Madison Park.
Reports: The treasury has a balance of $1111.31 as of 14 January 2003.
The East Washington Ave. reconstruction is lacking the necessary funding. The city is proposing to make up the difference and they are looking for ways to save money. One of the means will be to start the project at Blount Street rather than at Blair. Blair was reconstructed in 1988-89 and is a good state of repair.
Rick McKy reported back on the issues we presented about his development in the 500 block of East Washington – East Mifflin. According to the directions for measurements given to him by the city, his basement dwellings should be at least 2 feet above worse case flood situation. And he will put in a secondary egress/access to East Mifflin Street.
Neighborhood Plan: We have submitted paperwork for grants from the city and the State Historic Society for a total of $33,000.00. We should know by the end of the week if we are going to receive them. Two consulting firms were also interviewed.
Mayoral Forums: The Capital Neighborhood is having a forum Thursday, 30 January at Monona Terrace from 7 to 9 p.m.
The East Isthmus Neighborhoods Planning Council is holding a forum at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on 13 February starting at 6:30 p.m.
Breese Stevens Field:
The East Isthmus Neighborhoods Planning Council has sent us a letter asking for us to sign on to a letter of support for restoration of the facility. At motion was made for such support and passed without objection.
East Isthmus Neighborhoods Planning Council Representative: Eric Minton volunteered to be our representative on the Council. A motion was made to the affect and passed without objection.
New Business: Eric Minton asked for a discussion about development. Mark Schlei asked what was happening with 646 East Mifflin. The house has had much police attention and has cars parked illegally parked in front of it.
Eric Minton wanted support to ask Brenda Konkel why she has not put her full support toward the development on her block in accordance with the vote of the association. It was suggested he take up the discussion with her. No motions were made or passed.
Mention was also made of the terrible condition of East Mifflin Street from Webster to Blair Streets. Is there a possibility of getting it repaved?
