Reports: The Housing Committee was the only one that met.  The deferred their comments until the specific proposals were presented.

Housing Proposals for 726 East Dayton: After some discussion it was announced the city had already recommended Habitat For Humanity for the project.  It was decided we would vote on the issue anyway.  Rudy Hecht made a motion to support Habitat For Humanity.  Ilse Hecht seconded the motion.  The vote was 5 in for, 4 against and 2 abstentions.

The Housing Committee wanted their comments added to our minutes:

They recommended not supporting for the following reasons;

  1. Under utilization of the lot.
  2. Size of the house and the lot.
  3. Not offering the adjoining landowner the offer to purchase.
  4. Long term is not the best for the area.
  5. Drives more cars onto the street.
  6. Under utilization of the funds for affordability.
  7. Profit from sale at market can be used for affordability.
  8. Not appropriate for family.

Informational presentation of proposed development for 27 N. Butler: Eric Minton and John Sutton again explained their proposal and showed a model of the area.  The Housing Committee listed two concerns.  They are worried about the large scale of the project and the use of apartments rather than condominium units.  There were several comments about the excellent presentation this structure gives the neighborhood even though there is no historical significance or architectural importance to the building.  It is a very becoming home in a very public area of our neighborhood.  A motion was made and seconded to approve the project as presented.  The vote was 9 for, 2 against and 1 abstention.

Old Business:  It was decided to ask Tenney Lapham to give a presentation on the sign to be painted on the side of the laundry.

New Business:

The minutes of the last meeting were approved with corrections and the meeting was adjourned.
