Second Annual Family and Community Town Supper

Supporting the vision of developing resilient, successful and healthy learners, McFarland Partners in Prevention together with McFarland High School is pleased to sponsor our Second Annual Family and Community Town Supper on Thursday, March 5, 1998. Last year our topic focused on the youth Center. We've planned another lively discussion for this year, too! Plan to bring your family for an exciting discussion while you enjoy a delicious dinner.

McFarland Partners in Prevention sponsored a workshop last spring '97. Over eighty people learned about building positive assets in the lives of our youth. Many "sectors" of our community (Village Board, School Board, Business, Clubs, Students, Parents, Churches, Etc.) discovered that we needed to coordinate our efforts to help our youth become more resilient against risky behaviors (Violence, Drugs, alcohol, Suicide, Tobacco, Etc.).

We need to include all facets of the community to support the education of each child. As David Mathews concludes in his book, Is There a Public for Public Schools?, "Schools are excellent when the community is involved in education". Education is seen as a community strategy, not solely a school strategy.

We want to invite you to attend our family and community town supper to revisit our asset workshop, learn and share our successes and failures this past year and brainstorm ways that we can achieve even greater asset building within all of the sectors of our community in the next year. We hope you'll be able to share ideas back within the various sectors of our community. Our evening will end promptly at 7:00 pm to allow families to attend the IMMS production of the Wizard of Oz at 7:30 pm!

We can't waid to see you and your family on March 5th! Mark your calendars today!
