DANEnet Public Access Lab Assistance Project
DANEnet is pleased to offer a package of subsidized support services to area public access computer labs that want to upgrade or implement new technology. This is made possible by a generous grant from the Wisconsin Public Service Commission.
Each selected agency will be provided with:
- Free planning/technology assessment
- Subsidy for major IT projects. and ongoing maintenance
- Free Staff training on computer lab use
- A small budget for equipment maintenance
Requirements for agencies:
- Fill out the application form form to tell us what you plan on doing. Projects will be approved on a rolling basis.
- Provide a schedule/record of computer lab use including: hours open, classes taught, average number of users in the labs.
- Notify DANEnet when computer labs are not functioning or Internet access is not available.
Selection criterion for applicants:
- Projects must include a public access computer lab (including youth labs).
- The labs must include Internet access, although not all of the activities in each lab need include Internet activities (e.g. A multimedia lab might be used both for music production and access to Internet archives of Creative Commons sound files)
- Projects will receive priority if they:
- create/fix/upgrade labs that are heavily used.
- are feasible and financially viable.
- introduce new technology into Dane County access labs.
