Recreation for Individuals Dedicated to the
Environment
Formed in 1989 with these goals:
- Encourage the preservation of the natural enviroment and advocate
public access to natural areas for education and recreation by means of
silent sport use
- Alleviate real or perceived conflicts between user groups and provide
an open communication forum where multiple use problems may be openly
dicussed for the mutual benefit of all trails users
- Promote the construction and use of off-road greenways for
non-motorized transportation
"RIDE represents IMBA in the midwest and
encourages local grass roots level involvement. Mountain biking is
relatively new and so are the organizations and clubs that support land access
for off-road bicycling.
"RIDE has played a major role in keeping mountain bike trails opened in the
Kettle Moraine State Forest and in the Cook County Forest Preserve."
