Icebike Award - 2001

On May 21, 2001, BTA members Mike and Pam Barrett presented the soon-to-prestigious Icebike Award to the city staff who made last winter smooth riding for Madison's year-round bike commuters.

Receiving this award were:

As Mike Barrett said in his presentation:
"Think back to last December....It snowed. It snowed some more. And then it snowed again. And again. When it was all said & done, we had record snowfalls for the month of December. But guess what? We biked. We biked some more. And, when it was all said & done, we biked all winter long -- THANKS to the city of Madison's Streets and Parks Department. These folks were heroes to cyclists this winter. Our bike paths were cleared before - AND BETTER - than even some of the main thoroughfares! For this, BTA would like to present the first annual "Icebike" award."
Way to go, guys!
